How soon will my web space be set up?
Your
web space will be set up within 24 hours, and usually much
sooner. Once the setup is complete you will receive a User
ID and password to allow you to upload your web site. Please
note that if you have registered a new domain name you will
not be able to access your web site until it is fully activated.
Also if you are transferring a domain name to us there will
be a delay before your domain name can point to your web site.

I already have a domain name registered
with someone else. How can I use it with my web space?
Your
domain name will need to be set up on our servers so that
it can point to your web space. This means transferring it
from your current host to us. We charge a small setup fee
for transfers, but once your domain name is transferred you
will have the benefit of 10 free POP3 email addresses and
email support. Please contact us for further information on how to transfer.

Can I upload using Internet Explorer?
Yes
you can. To enable this option:
To access
your site enter the path into the address bar and enter your
username and password when prompted. You will be presented
with an explorer view of your webspace which you can simply
drag and drop files into and out of.

Why do I only see a directory listing
when I view my site?
When
you type in a domain name in the address bar of your browser,
the server will try to return the default page for the website.
If no default page is found it will return a directory listing
instead. To stop this happening a default page must exist
in the root directory of your site. The default page can have
any of the following names: index.htm, index.html, index.shtml,
default.aspx, default.htm, default.html.

How can I send email from a form on my
website?
You
can use the mailto.asp script that is located in your web
space. You will find a mailtoreadme.txt in the same area which
explains how to use the script. Please note, this script is
provided free of charge. We do not provide support nor take
any responsibility for this script.

How can I learn about Active Server Pages?

Can I use CGI scripts on my web space?
Yes.
A CGI-bin directory is provided in your web space that you
can use for CGI scripts.
A good place to look for CGI scripts, including many free scripts is Matt Wright's Script Archive.
Please
Note: It is only possible to use CGI scripts with a .pl extension.
Also the server uses NT 4.0 and not all CGI scripts that are
designed for Unix will work with NT, although most are compatible
with both NT and Unix. In particular, NT does not have the
equivalent of the Unix Sendmail program so to send email from
within your web pages we have provided an asp script.

What
is Data Transfer and how does it affect to me?
Data
transfer is the amount of data downloaded from your web site,
often referred to as bandwidth. For example, if your web site
is 1mb and ten visitors browse the whole site each day, your
total data transfer used that day would be 10mb. In practice
visitors rarely download a complete site, just visiting certain
pages.
You are given a monthly data transfer allowance when you purchase your web space. If you exceed this limit we charge 3 UK pence per mb transferred. This will be charged at the end of each month and you have 14 days to pay in full. Failure to pay may result in the suspension of your web site.
If you find you are going over your data transfer limit you can either speak to us to upgrade or try and keep images, etc down in size by using file compression.
We monitor
all web sites and will let you know if your data transfer
usage is likely to exceed your limit.
